The Fond du Lac County Health Department is encouraging residents to get their home tested for radon. Health Department spokesperson Rhianna Schmidt says during the month of January, short-term radon test kits are available for $5 at the Health Department on the third floor at the city-county government center. Schmidt says the Department of Health Services estimates that one of ten homes in Wisconsin have high radon levels. The Health Department recommends retesting your home every two years. Mitigation systems can be installed to reduce radon levels. January is National Radon Action month.
