Political observers say while Republican U.S. senator Ron Johnson has more money in the bank than his Democratic rivals, the issue will be how he is able to raise money in the months leading up to the election. Campaign finance reports show Johnson has more than $1 million more cash on hand than any Democrat. On the other hand, Johnson trailed some of them in fundraising over the last three months of 2021. WisPolitics.com editor J.R. Ross says the money will be there from outside groups but he says it’s harder to control the message when you don’t raise the money yourself. “Really the question for Johnson is how does he fire up the fundraising machine,” Ross told WFDL news. “He’s been raising a little bit of money here and there, but there has been nothing like what the other targeted U.S. senators are. Raphael Warnock has been raising $9 million bucks a quarter and Ron Johnson has only cracked a million dollars once.”
