Discovery of the “stealth omicron” variant in Wisconsin doesn’t come as a surprise to the Fond du Lac County Public Health Officer. Kim Mueller says while the stealth variant appears to be more infectious, but perhaps milder in terms of symptoms from the original omicron variant. But Mueller says that doesn’t mean future variants won’t be more severe. Health experts says while the vaccine may not prevent breakthrough infections, they continue to be effective against severe illness and death.
