The Fond du Lac County District Attorney says he has filed election fraud charges against five people to protect the integrity of the electoral process. Eric Toney says the charges are the result of a police investigation following a complaint made by a citizen regarding people who used a Post Office Box at the Fond du Lac UPS store for their address. “Some of the allegations are that people that had a travel-trailer would drive across the country, they would stay in different parts of Fond du Lac County or Wisconsin,” Toney said. “Even if somebody doesn’t have a stable residence, they’re still able to vote. It’s just a question of making sure they do it lawfully and when you’re registering to vote you clearly don’t live at a P.O. box.” Toney says these cases have nothing to do with claims the 2020 election was stolen, noting one of the individuals charged admitted voting for Donald Trump. In the last several months Toney has also charged two convicted felons who voted in the 2020 election with voter fraud. Toney is a Republican candidate for state attorney general.
