Winter competition is heating up as the UW-Oshkosh Fond du Lac and Fox Cities athletic teams compete in a new sports league. The inaugural Wisconsin Competitive Sports League men’s basketball championship will be held in March, followed by co-ed tennis competition in April and May and women’s volleyball in the fall. Interim sports co-coordinator Jeremiah Hoffman says the Fox Cities and Fond du Lac have strong participation, where some of the others are struggling a bit. But Hoffman says the foundation that is being established will continue to build the programs. UWO Assistant chancellor Martin Rudd says the league provides opportunities for students who want to continue playing sports they played in high school. Rudd says it’s a useful recruitment for the schools and a great way for students starting at the access campuses to continue doing something they love.
