3-1-22 fdl county public health department adopts cdc mask guidance

The Fond du Lac County Health Department is adopting new CDC mask guidance and changing it’s COVID-19 dashboard to reflect that.  Public Health Officer Kim Mueller says one of the changes involves the level of community transmission, shifting the focus from the number of daily positive cases.  “The CDC is still recommending hospitals and nursing homes follow that community transmission rate but for everybody else we can  go to this COVID-19 community level and that will dictate need for mitigation strategies such as mask wearing,”  Mueller told WFDL news.   Mueller says Fond du Lac County is now at the low level based on new COVID-19 hospital admissions , average percentage of in-patient beds occupied by COVID patients,  and number of new COVID-19 cases per 100,000 population over the last seven days.  The new CDC guidelines says healthy people in most areas of the country can safely stop wearing masks.
