2-28-22 fdl county sheriff’s office continues to investigate rash of vehicle entries

The Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Office continues to investigate a recent rash of vehicle break-ins.   According to the Sheriff's Office the vehicle entries have occured in the northeast portion of the county around the Mount Calvary area. The Sheriff's office is reminding residents to lock their vehicles at night. All of the incidents have occured during the overnight hours. Anyone with information is asked to call the Sheriff's Office.

2-28-22 arrest made in door county bar fire

STURGEON BAY, Wis. (AP) — Police say a tenant who lived above a Sturgeon Bay bar where a fire this week killed two people and endangered others has been arrested. The 57-year-old man is in the Door County Jail on probable charges of second-degree reckless homicide and second-degree endangering safety. 2-26-22 fdl man convicted in drug overdose death

A  Fond du Lac man has been convicted in the drug overdose death  of a woman.   At a hearing this week 36 year old Christopher Hoerth pleaded no contest to  first degree reckless homicide.  Police say he supplied fentanyl that led to the death of a woman in North Fond du Lac in May 2020.  A sentencing hearing is scheduled for May 5.   The charge carries a maximum sentence of 25 years in prison and 15 […]

2-25-22 fdl judge rules commitment proceedings to continue in halloween killer’s case

The so-called Halloween Killer, Gerald Turner, won't be released from custody.  At a hearing this week Fond du Lac County Circuit judge Paul Czisny ruled that Turner will remain confined at a secure mental health facility.   The 72 year old Turner was convicted of killing nine-year-old Lisa Ann French while she was trick-or-treating on Halloween, 1973.   Turner was initially scheduled for release in 2018, but the Wisconsin Department of Justice […]

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Wisconsin has become the fifth state to call for a convention of the states to amend the U.S. Constitution with congressional term limits. 2-25-22 fdl lakeside park lighthouse repair project

Work is expected to begin this year on a major project to repair the Fond du Lac Lakeside Park Lighthouse.  The Lighthouse has been closed since last September when water damage to the inside upright wood members was discovered during routine maintenance.  Parks director John Redmond says repair work will  include replacing the rotted wood studs, and rebuilding the outside siding  to prevent rain and snow from getting inside.  The project would also include […]
