3-31-22 little change in local unemployment rate

The local unemployment rate is up slightly in the latest reporting period.  The February unemployment rate in Dodge County is three percent, up from 2.8 percent in January.  In Fond du Lac County the jobless rate is up a tenth of a percent to 2.8 percent.  The city of Fond du lac's unemployment rate was unchanged at 2.5 percent.  Across the state unemployment rates decreased or stayed the same in 12 of 35 cities over […]

3-31-22 Covid-19 cases remain low in FDL county

While the number of new positive COVID-19 cases in Wisconsin has been climbing this week the numbers in Fond du Lac County continue to remain low.  Fond du Lac County Public Health Officer Kim Mueller says three positive cases were reported Wednesday and one person is hospitalized in the county with COVID-19.  State Department of Health Services reported over 500 new confirmed cases Wednesday.

3-30-22 buechel funeral services this weekend

Funeral  services are being held Saturday for Fond du Lac County executive Al Buechel who died last weekend from an apparent heart attack.  Visitation will be held from 3pm to 7p Friday and from 9am to 10:30am Saturday at  Holy  Family Catholic Church, followed by funeral services at 11am.  Buechel died Sunday afternoon after suffering a heart attack the night before.  He was 74 years old.   Meanwhile, the Fond du Lac […]

3-30-22 attorneys in wisconsin parade crash want 2023 trial

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Attorneys for a man accused of driving his SUV through a Christmas parade in suburban Milwaukee are looking to push a trial date into 2023. Prosecutors allege Darrell Brooks drove through the parade in downtown Waukesha on Nov. 21, killing six people and injuring dozens more. Governor Tony Evers has signed a supplemental bill into law designed to invest in the state’s dairy exports.  The governor signed the bill last week, which allows the Department of Agriculture, Trade, and Consumer Protection to work with the Wisconsin  Economic Development Corporation.  The bill's author, Republican state senator Joan Ballweg of Markesan, says the measure directs unused funding within the Department of Ag, Trade and Consumer Protection to the Wisconsin Initiative for Agriculture […]

3-30-22 pickup vs. pedestrian crash in juneau

A pedestrian was injured after being struck by a pickup truck in the city of Juneau.  The crash happened Tuesday morning on state Highway 26 at the intersection with Fairfield Avenue.  A preliminary investigation shows a pickup was northbound on 26 turning onto Fairfield when it struck a pedestrian walking in the crosswalk  on the north side of the  intersection.   The 42 year old pedestrian  was transported  to Marshfield Medical Center in […]
