A Republican state senator from Fond du Lac is defending Republican’s decision to gavel in and gavel out of a special session this week. Governor Tony Evers called the special session to approve his plan to use a portion of a projected state surplus to send taxpayers $150 refunds. Senator Dan Feyen says there was no reason to debate how to use the money when it’s only projected at this point. “The money he’s (Evers) projecting, talking about sending back to you, that’s all projected. It’s money we haven’t received yet,” Feyen told WFDL news. “It’s money that’s supposed to be in our bank account June 30, 2023.” Senate president Chris Kapenga banged the gavel to start the special session Tuesday morning and immediately banged it again to end it.
