3-15-22 fdl school board approves salary increase for teachers

Fond du Lac School District teachers are getting a pay raise.  The Fond du Lac School board has approved a base wage increase of 4.7 percent for the 2022-23 school year.  Superintendent Dr. Jeff Fleig says the teachers have worked incredibly hard over the past two years during the pandemic and they deserve the raise.  “Staff are very important and they need to be compensated for their work, and they need to be compensated at a fair market value, ”  Dr. Fleig told WFDL news.   Dr. Fleig noted that Oshkosh teachers also received a 4.7 percent salary increase.  “The district realizes we’re in a labor shortage and we also need to retain staff.”   Dr. Fleig says the district will address a budget shortfall caused by the salary increase by using federal ESSER COVID-19 relief aid and strategically identifying  other areas to trim costs.
