Interstate 41 south of Fond du Lac was closed for eight hours yesterday after a power pole snapped in half and caught on fire. The Fond du Lac County Dispatch Center received multiple 911 calls shortly after 4pm Tuesday that a power pole was on fire on 41 near Church Road. When officers arrived multiple electrical wires were hanging over the Interstate. Both north and southbound 41 was closed due to safety concerns with the high winds. Traffic was detoured on to Highway 175. We Energies worked well into the night to replace the damaged pole and make the power lines safe. The Interstate reopened shortly after midnight.
