4-29-22 coroner: wi girl died of strangulation, blunt force trauma

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Preliminary autopsy results confirm that a 10-year-old girl found dead in northwestern Wisconsin this week died of strangulation and blunt force trauma. Chippewa County Coroner Ronald Patten said Thursday that the autopsy on Illiana “Lily” Peters showed the manner of death was homicide. DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — Governors from eight Midwest states asked the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Thursday for a permanent waiver that will allow each state to continue selling ethanol blended gas year-round without restriction. 4-29-22 alliant energy solar plan

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Wisconsin regulators have signed off on the second phase of Alliant Energy's $1.5 billion solar energy plan. The Wisconsin State Journal reports the Public Service Commission on Thursday unanimously approved Alliant's plan to buy or build six solar farms in Dane, Grant, Green, Rock and Waushara counties for $620 million. Moraine Park Technical College has named James Flood, of Fond du Lac, the 2022 Distinguished Alumnus.  Flood grew up on a farm in the countryside of Eden and graduated from Campbellsport High School in 1969. Fond du Lac County has dropped in the latest health rankings.  Fond du lac County is ranked 41 out of 72 counties, down from 34 in 2021.  Fond du Lac County Public Health Officer Kim Mueller says a shortage of providers influences a county's overall health.  Mueller says the rankings help health care professionals understand factors affecting health in the community and identify areas for improvement and recognize strengths.  Mueller says the statistics show that mental […]

4-29-22 city of fdl names new director of administration

Starting next week there's a new person in charge of the city's annual $100 million budget.   Tricia Davi replaces Traci Salter as the new Director of Administration beginning Monday.  Davi  has served as the Deputy Comptroller/Treasurer for the past six years and for 24 years in the Comptroller Office.    Salter is retiring after 34 years of  service to the city of Fond du Lac.

4-29-22 gas prices edge higher

4-29-22 fdl county circuit court jury report

A newly released report shows the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the Fond  du Lac County Circuit Court system.   Retiring Fond du Lac County Senior Circuit judge Peter Grimm says  there were a record low 14 jury trials in 2020, due to Covid restrictions.  Seven of the trials were felony cases,  including three criminal OWI cases.  There were 28 jury days, and the longest jury trial was 3 days.  Judge Grimm says  2021 […]
