A Fond du Lac man has been arrested in connection with a swatting incident in the city of Fond du Lac last month. Swatting is a prank call made to law enforcement in an effort to draw a large police presence to an address. Assistant police chief Jason Laridaen says in this case police were called March 14 to a local motel. Laridaen says the suspect told dispatchers a woman was being held against her will and that weapons were involved. Laridaen says that triggered a large response from local law enforcement. Laridaen says when police arrived it became clear relatively quickly that the call was a prank. The suspect is expected to make his initial Fond du Lac court appearance this week on charges of swatting, resisting, and disorderly conduct.
