Political observers are not sure what degree of significance to place on a recent meeting between former Wisconsin governor Tommy Thompson and former president Donald Trump. Thompson, who has declined to rule out a run for governor, met with Trump last week in Florida. WisPolitics.com editor J.R. Ross says there are some people in Thompson’s circle who are trying to portray the meeting only as a discussion about policies in general and the Wisconsin races, while he is thinking about running for governor, not to seek an endorsement. “There are people in Thompson’s orbit who aren’t sure Tommy will run in the end,” Ross told WFDL news. Ross says people close to Thompson tell him that Thompson wants to run, but the question is will he pull the trigger and enter the race?
