A Fond du Lac family, a four year old boy, and a Fond du Lac man are being recognized for their life-saving actions in three separate incidents over the past year. The Fond du Lac Fire and Rescue Department has presented the Citizen Life Safety Award to Gary Thern, the Lorenz family and King Memeyegehn. Four year old King was recognized for alerting his mom to a cooking fire in an apartment unit last October who was able to extinguish the fire before it could spread further. The Lorenz family rendered aid to a semi-conscious woman laying in a parking lot, wrapping her in a blanket and waiting until paramedics arrived. Gary Thern noticed a fire at a residence on Spring Road, dialed 911, then entered the house and rescued several children and their grandmother who were unaware of the fire.
