Dodge County Sheriff Dale Schmidt has announced he is running for reeelection. Schmidt is running for a third term. “I’ve been honored and priviledged to serve the citizens of Dodge County through two elections already. I’m hopeful for a third one,” Schmidt told WFDL news. Schmidt says protecting the lives, property, and constitutional rights of the citizens of Dodge County has been the focus of his entire law enforcement career. Schmidt says if he is reelected one of his top priorities will be working toward achieving accreditation of the Sheriff’s Office. Schmidt has over 21 years of law enforcement experience, 18 years with the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office. He will face Waupun resident Mark Colker in an August 9 primary election. Colker, a 24 year law enforcement veteran, announced his candidacy earlier this year.
