A new poll shows president Joe Biden’s approval rating has dipped to the lowest point of his presidency with deepening pessimism emerging among members of his own Democratic party. Only 39-percent of U.S. adults approve of Biden’s performance as president, according to the Associated Press poll. Ripon College political scientist Marty Farrell says the major factor is inflation. Farrell says Biden has not done a good job of using the bully pulpit that other presidents have done to get their message out. “Pocketbook issues usually predominate,” Farrell told WFDL news. “When times are good economically the president usually gets more credit he deserves, but similarly if things aren’t going well, he’ll get more blame.” Farrell says the biggest contributor to Biden’s most recent downturn in the polls is among Democrats.
