5-24-22 fdl school board agrees to hire former embattled wauwatosa school administrator as new elementary school principal

The Fond du Lac School District superintendent says he has no reservations whatsoever in hiring a former assistant superintendent in the Wauwatosa School District to be the next principal at Waters Elementary School.   The Fond  du Lac  School Board voted unanimously to hire Kristin Bowers at their meeting Monday evening.  Bowers resigned in Wauwatosa earlier this year for promoting a contract with  a company her husband worked for.  A Wauwatosa Police investigation determined no criminal charges would be filed, but said the school district ignored conflict of interest issues and violated it’s own policies.  Bowers had promoted a college and career readiness program called AVID, where her husband worked as a senior director.  Fond  du Lac School superintendent  Dr. Fleig says as a principal Bowers will not have any role when the AVID program starts up in Fond du Lac this fall.  Dr. Jeff Fleig says Bowers was the most qualified person who applied for the principal position.  “She is enormously talented.  She has been an educational administrator for over 20 years.  She has served as an elementary school principal in Wauwatosa and well as a high school principal,”  Dr. Fleig told WFDL news.  “She is going to be a great asset to our district leading a school.”   In addition to Bowers the Fond du Lac School Board approved the hiring of Jenny Hughes as the interim principal at Pier Elementary School.
