The Fond du Lac County executive says he wonders if the county can continue to afford be in the golf course business. Sam Kaufman says over a period of years the Rolling Meadows Golf Course has accrued a deficit of around $2.6 million. “I want the county to finally take a look at these numbers and make a decision,” Kaufman told WFDL news. “Do we want to operate the golf course in this capacity of deficits every year?” Kaufman says the county is reaching a point where continued deficits will result in the accrued deficit exceeding the value of the land. Kaufman says he would like to see an ad hoc committee formed to examine the economic impact the golf course has on the community. He says potential options include raising green fees, renovating a new clubhouse for a year round venue, or selling it. Kaufman also acknowledges its a quality of life issue. A county committee will discuss the matter at their meeting this evening.
