The president of Moraine Park Technical College says a major building referendum would update programs and facilities to fuel the growing business and industry sector. The MPTC board this month voted unanimously to place the $55 million referendum on the November ballot. MPTC president Bonnie Baerward says the referendum would allow Moraine Park to borrow funds for four major projects including the renovation of the manufacturing and trade center , and remodel ing and expansion of the health services and nursing wing at the Fond du Lac campus. A third project would involve remodeling manufacturing and trade spaces and the front entrance at the West Bend campus. The final project would be a regional fire training center possibly in Beaver Dam. “I’m ecstatic,” Baerwald told WFDL news. “We’ve been working on this project for two years. tons of research and investment and community converstation, and so I’m very proud and pleased of our staff and certainly of the board for taking this strategic step in moving forward with the future of our college.” Baerwald says because the referendum is spread out over the entire MPTC District the overall tax impact is relatively low.
