Students are back in class for another school year. Waupun School Superintendent Steve Hill says Wednesday was the first full day of class for all students. “The last couple years it’s just been mitigating, mitigating, mitigation. How can we protect them (students) so we’ve done everything we can,” Hill told WFDL news. “This year we are just thrilled that we are focused on education. The third Friday enrollment count will come out later this month, but Hill says the preliminary indication is that enrollment is up. Fond du Lac School District superintendent Dr. Jeff Fleig says it feels like a more normal start to the school year after more than two years during the pandemic. Fleig says the district continues to work to fill teacher vacancies. “We are almost at 100% filled right now,” Fleig told WFDL news. “We still have about seven or eight positions that are still open that are being filled by people internally.”
