A Fond du Lac County man, missing following a motor vehicle crash, has been found safe. Shortly after 4:30pm Saturday rescue personnel responded to a report of a one vehicle crash at the intersection of County Highway Q and Calmar Road in Fond du Lac County. A preliminary investigation shows a vehicle failed to negotiate a curve, left the road, and struck several trees. The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office says evidence indicates alcohol may have been a factor. Witnesses say the driver , identified as 36 year old Mitchell Titel, fled the scene on foot. A couple hours later a friend of the driver called the Fond du Lac County Dispatch Center to report they had received a cellphone call Titel who said he was walking in the woods not far from where he thought the crash occurred, but he was unsure of his exact whereabouts. Titel also told his friend he was now experiencing shortness of breath. Several State Patrol Troopers along with Sheriff’s Deputies and the Sheriff’s Office Drone Team continued an extensive search for the driver. At 4am Sunday the Sheriff’s Office says Titel was found safe and that circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation.
