Republican state representative Jeremy Thiesfeldt of Fond du Lac says he’s not surprised that Assembly speaker Robin Vos fired former state Supreme Court Jusitce Michael Gableman , ending a 14 month, taxpayer-funded inquiry into the 2020 election. Thiesfeldt says the investigation got off to a strong start, but then fizzled out for a variety of reasons. Thiesfeldt says the $1 million in taxpayer money spent on the investigation was more money than he wanted to spend. Under pressure from former president Trump, Vos last year announced the probe and chose Gableman, a conservative former Supreme Court justice to lead it. But as the investigation progressed, Vos’ relationship soured with both Gableman and Trump. Gableman found no evidence of widspread fraud. But he still joined Trump in calling for lawmakers to consider decertifying the 2020 election, something Vos said was unconstitutional and impossible.
