Two people are in custody following a high speed chase involving a stolen vehicle in Fond du Lac. It started shortly after 10pm Tuesday when police were alerted that a stolen vehicle from Menasha was headed southbound on Interstate 41. An officer attempted a traffic stop at 41 and Military Road and the vehicle fled into the city at speeds of approximately 90 miles an hour. The stolen vehicle struck an occupied vehicle at the intersection of Western Avenue and South Military Road. The occupants of the struck vehicle were unharmed, then stopped in the 100 block of Western Avenue and both occupants fled on foot. FDLPD Officers, FDSO Deputies, and a Wisconsin State Patrol Trooper flooded the area in an attempt to locate the fleeing suspects. FDLPD also deployed a drone and a K9. Both suspects from the stolen vehicle at one point had entered the East Branch of the Fond du Lac River in an attempt to get away from law enforcement officers before being taken into custody. The driver, a 19 year old Eau Claire man, and a passenger, a 25 year old Neenah man were apprehended a short time later.
