12-15-22 wedc secretary encourages fdl county residents to ‘shop small’

The secretary of the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation is encouraging residents to shop small this holiday season.  WEDC secretary Missy Hughes made the comments during a stop in downtown Fond du Lac Tuesday afternoon. “Shopping local not only helps that particular business owner but it helps the whole community,”  Hughes told WFDL news.  Hughes made stop at several North Main Street businesses, many celebrating their first or second holiday shopping season in a new space after receiving Main Street  Bounceback grants.  The grants provide $10,000 to businesses and nonprofits that move into a previously vacant commercial space.    Nearly 8,000 businesses and nonprofits  have received the grants in all 72 Wisconsin counties, including grants for 64 Fond du Lac businesses and 100 businesses in Fond du Lac County.
