Republican congressman Glenn Grothman predicts a debt limit standoff will go right down to the wire, but that a government default will ultimately be averted.   The Treasury Department has notified Congress it’s time again to raise the nation’s debt ceiling to allow more borrowing to pay off the country’s accumulated bills.  “We are told they can shift money from one fund to anotherand as a result we would not default until sometime in June,”  Grothman told WFDL news.  “Traditionally they increase the government debt at the last minute.  Hopefully there will be some sort of agreement where there are some restrictions or decrease of spending of some sort.”  Grothman the bottom line is the government has been spending too much money.  Grothman says at this point it appears neither Republicans or Democrats are willing to budge.
