A spokesperson for Fond du Lac County says a redesign of the county flag is an effort to modernize the flag to help promote the county and attract more young people to the county. County recruitment and promotional strategist, Stephanie Dahlke, says residents are encouraged to submit designs incorporating their own thoughts on what appropriately represents the county. “Our County executive, Sam Kaufman, as he sat in the (legislative) chambers realized that we had the county flag there and it’s outdated, and he felt it was important to modernize the flag,” Dahlke said. Dahlke says the current flag was designed by Donna Heldt of Campbellsport many years ago. Required criteria for the new design includes representation of county parks and recreation, agriculture, businesses and manufacturing. All submissions must be in a digital format. The winning submission will become property of Fond du Lac County. The designer of the winning submission will be recognized at the May County Board meeting, as well as receive a $100 Envision Greater Fond du Lac gift certificate. All submissions should be emailed to Stephanie Dahlke at stephanie.dahlke@fdlco.wi.gov by April 1.
