MILWAUKEE (AP) — A now-shuttered Wisconsin substance abuse center and its CEO owe the government more than $2 million in a Medicaid fraud case. The U.S. Department of Justice sued Brookfield-based The Healing Center LLC and CEO and sole practitioner Dr. Siamak Arassi in 2019. According to the lawsuit, Arassi ordered prescriptions for the anti-addiction drug Vivitrol in the names of former patients and collected Medicaid reimbursements for the expenses. The newspaper reported he stockpiled the medicine and sold it to patients for more than $1,000 a month. Arassi said on his website he closed the clinic because he was tried of regulators’ harassment.
