The Holyland Food Pantry Board of Directors are hosting an open house and ribbon cutting ceremony next month for a new food pantry. The new food pantry is located on Kiel Road in Marytown. The pantry was built with an initial matching grant from the Basic Needs Giving Partnership Fund along with private and public donations. The new facility has increased storage to buy bulk commodities and offer handicapped accessibility and private conferencing areas. Additionally, the site is zoned commercial to access federal and state government food programs for meat, produce and dry goods. The pantry currently serves 40-45 households monthly and it became very evident that the current food pantry had outgrown the needs of the community. A committee was created to research potential sites for the new facility. In September 2021 a lot was purchased a lot on Kiel Road in Marytown and construction was underway by spring of 2022. The Open House and ribbon cutting will be held Saturday April 15th at 11am.
