Construction is underway on a new artificial turf football stadium at Fond du Lac High School. Groundbreaking was held this month on the more than $6 million project. School District Chief of Finance and Operations Mike Gerlach says excavation work has started and the artificial turf surface will actually be one of the final steps. The old bleachers have been taken down to make way for new seating on the west side of the field. The project is scheduled for completion the first week in August. The school board voted to use $5.3 million out of the district’s fund balance to pay for the project. The rest of the cost is being paid for through fundraising.
