The City Of Fond du Lac has awarded the contract for the bridge between Lakeside Park and Lakeside Park West to Zenith Tech. The construction work is scheduled to start the week of May 1 with erosion control, grading, embankment fill, along with other miscellaneous work. This initial phase of work is tentatively scheduled for completion by the end of May, weather dependent. The contractor and bridge supplier have informed the City that delivery of the bridge is out to the first quarter of 2024. This has changed from the fall of 2023 that was indicated by multiple bridge suppliers during the design phase. Due to this delay, after the initial phase is complete in May, work on the project will halt until the fall of 2023 after Labor Day. The contractor will install the piling, abutments, wall, and backfilling. Work at the site will again halt until the spring of 2024 when the bridge will be delivered to the site and set in place. Final work at the site will be the asphalt trail, asphalt roadway, concrete sidewalk, and turf restoration. This work has a completion planned for the middle to end of May 2024, at which time the trail and bridge will be opened to the public.
