MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Wisconsin Assembly Speaker Robin Vos says that Republicans are “done negotiating” on a bill that would increase state aid to local governments, unveiling a new proposal that Democratic Gov. Tony Evers and the GOP-controlled Senate have yet to agree to. The Assembly passed the latest version on Wednesday hours after Evers expressed optimism that a bipartisan agreement could be reached. But Evers was not included in the discussion that led to the latest proposal, which boosts aid for local governments even more but retains other provisions that Milwaukee and Evers had objected to. Wisconsin’s local governments have been clamoring for years for more state aid to help cover basic services.
