A Fond du Lac man was arrested after barricading himself inside his apartment following a domestic violence incident and setting fire to the apartment. Friday afternoon police were called to the 400 block of East 2nd Street for a domestic violence incident. Police learned the 29 year old alleged victim was able to safely get to a neighboring home and the 31 year old suspect barricaded himself inside the residence with a can of gasoline. Officers evacuated the upstairs tennants and while attempting negotiations with the suspect noticed a fire inside the residence on the first floor. The suspect briefly exited the house with a severe self-inflicted wound to his throat and then re-entered the nearly fully-engulfed house. Moments later the suspect came out a side door and was arrested and transported to St. Agnes Hospital with what were described as significant injuries. The suspect faces multiple charges and will be transported to jail when he is medically cleared. The incident remains under investigation.
