Republican congressman Glenn Grothman says he’s pleased with the compromise debt ceiling bill approved by the House to avert a U.S. default crisis. Grothman voted in favor of the package Wednesday night. Grothman says not only does the bill decrease spending, the package also includes many provisions supported by Republicans, including imposing work requirements on older Americans receiving food stamps, and gutting new money for IRS agents. The U.S. was facing a potentially disastrous default in less than a week if Congress failed to act. The U.S. Senate passed the bill Thursday night sending the package to president Biden’s desk.
