SSM Health Greater Fond du Lac is giving $10,000 to the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Fond du Lac County to support its Bigs and Littles program. Big Brothers Big Sisters is a non-profit agency that matches children with adults who help by simply being a special friend. Big Brothers Big Sisters executive director Tammy Young says children who have a mentor are less likely to begin using illegal drugs or alcohol, less likely to skip school or class and are more confident in their schoolwork performance and are able to get along better with their families. She says currently there are more than 100 children looking for a mentor.
