A busy weekend for Fond du Lac County law enforcement involved in a couple of high speed chases and a Swat Team call. Shortly after 7pm Saturday Fond du Lac police learned a 20 year old woman had been taken to the hospital by family members for treatment of injuries following a domestic incident In the 500 block of 4th Street. A 27 year old Fond du Lac man was arrested following a chase in the city that reached speeds of 60 miles an hour.
Shortly after 3:30pm Saturday Fond du Lac County sheriffs deputies arrested the the driver of a car involved in a chase that started on southbound Interstate 41 at County Highway F, reaching speeds over 100 miles an hour. The chase ended nearly five miles later when the vehicle struck a concrete island on the 41 off ramp to Highway 49, and the vehicle eventually stopped on Highway 175. A 47 year old New Berlin man was arrested at gunpoint.
Shortly after 8:30pm Friday the Fond du Lac County Sheriffs Office SWAT Team was called to a Campbellsport apartment complex for a report that a man had shot himself in the stomach and was going to shoot himself again. Apartment residents were evacuated and deputies began negotiations with the individual. The man eventually surrendered peacefully and deputies learned he was not injured and was heavily intoxicated. He was transported to the hospital for further treatment.
