An Appleton man is in custody following a more than 20 mile long high speed chase in Fond du Lac County. The chase started early Wednesday morning after the Fond du Lac County Communications Center received information from the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office that a stolen vehicle was traveling southbound on Interstate 41 nearing Fond du Lac County. A Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s deputy spotted the vehicle on Interstate 41 near Lone Elm Road without it’s headlights on. The chase continued on County Highway OO, back toward the city of Fond du Lac, onto Rolling Meadows Drive where the chase was terminated. The vehicle eventually turned south onto North Barton Road and crashed at the dead end, where the driver, a 22 year old Appleton man, was arrested without further incident. He faces multiple charges including eluding, recklessly endangering safety, felon in possession of a firearm and operating a stolen vehicle.
