7-5-23 high speed chase-fdl county

An Oshkosh man was arrested following a high speed chase in Fond du Lac County.  The chase started early Saturday morning when a Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s deputy attempted to stop a vehicle for a speeding over 120 miles an hour on southbound Interstate 41 at County Hwy Y in the town of Byron.  The vehicle exited  at State Highway 49 in Dodge County,   reentered Fond du Lac County  on Drumline Drive where the deputy lost sight of the vehicle.  The vehicle was again spotted on Highway 67 and eventually pulled over on Butternut Road at Highway 67 and the driver, a 21 year old Oshkosh man, was arrested  without incident.   The driver wsas determined to be under the influence while operating a motor vehicle and a K9 search of the vehicle indicated evidence of drug use.  It was determined after the pursuit was initially terminated the suspect vehicle continued southbound on Drumline Drive and struck a ditch causing moderate damage to the vehicle.  The driver was arrested for Knowingly Fleeing an Officer, Operating a Motor Vehicle While Under the Influence – 2nd offense, and Second-Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety.  He was also cited for other miscellaneous traffic violations. A passenger in the vehicle was also detained during the investigation, but was later released without charges. The Wisconsin State Patrol and Dodge County Sheriff’s Office assisted with the high risk stop.
