Parkinson’s disease can affect speech in several ways making it difficult to communicate with family and friends. Speech therapy typically is the main treatment and SSM Health Greater Fond du Lac is now offering the Parkinson Voice Project Speak Out program. SSM Health speech language pathologist Angela Hall says speech therapists teach exercises and techniques to improve the volume and clarity of speech. Hall saysthe program encourages patients to speak with intent. She says the earlier the treatment, the better the results. The program typically consists of 12 therapy sessions and daily home practice.
