The Salvation Army of Fond du Lac is closing it’s warming shelter this fall, but adding or expanding services at the same time. Captain Christina Champlin says due to organizational challenges, including adequate staffing levels , the Salvation Army will no longer operate the seasonal warming shelter. At the same time Champlin says the Salvation Army is launching a Housing Retention program that provides financial assistance and case management to prevent evictions and help people maintain stable housing. Champlin says the Pathway of Hope service is being expanded to serve more families, and a Step-Up Life Skills Mentorship is designed to provide individuals struggling with addiction, mental health issues and homelessness. The Salvation Army will also provide transportation to the Salvation Army’s Adult Rehabilitation Program in Milwaukee. The ARC is a residential program offering work, group, and individual therapy services for those with substance abuse concerns.
