MADISON, Wis. (AP) — The Wisconsin Justice Department wants to bow out of a multistate lawsuit challenging former President Donald Trump’s decision to divert money meant for National Guard units to his border wall. Multiple states, including Wisconsin, sued challenging Trump’s decision to divert up to $6.7 billion for National Guard units, military construction projects and police to the wall. All the states moved to dismiss the case after Joe Biden became president in 2021 except Wisconsin. The state Justice Department plans to ask the Legislature’s finance committee Tuesday for permission to leave the case.
