7-28-23 fdl police chief: city overall crime rate is down

Despite recent a recent high profile homicide and shooting incident, the Fond du Lac police chief says overall violent crime and shootings are down in the city of Fond du Lac.  Police Chief Aaron Goldstein told the Fond du Lac city council at their meeting Wednesday night that the overall crime rate in the city is down 38 percent in the last ten years.   Goldstein says last year represented a nine year low in reports of domestic violence incidents.  Goldstein says shooting incidents in the first half of this year are down more than 30 percent compared to the same time last year.  Goldstein presented his proposed 2024 budget at Wednesday night’s meeting.  Top capital projects include continuation of the department’s renovation project, squad and portable radio replacement, and new technology.
