In case you’re wondering what that loud explosion-type sound was in the Fond du Lac area Wednesday afternoon, it wasn’t an explosion. Fond du Lac County Sheriff Ryan Waldschmidt says the military is conducting training exercises and a jet broke the sound barrier causing a sonic boom. Waldschmidt says several residents dialed 911 after hearing the noise shortly before 3pm Wednesday.
