8-21-23 fdl man gets jail in election fraud case

A fifth defendant arrested for election fraud in Fond du Lac County is going to jail.   Edward Malnar has pleaded guilty to felony Election Fraud, voting in Michigan and Wisconsin in the November 2020 election and obstructing an officer.   Fond du Lac judge Laura Lavey sentenced Malnar to 15 days in jail and a $3500 fine.   Before handing down the  sentence Judge Lavey credited the defendant’s military service in Vietnam but said the process that serves as the foundation of our entire system of government must be protected.  District Attorney Toney stated “Fond du Lac County has now convicted five defendants of election fraud from the November 2020 election and the limited number of referrals and convictions speaks the integrity of the process. We will continue to defend the foundation of our republic by ensuring every legal vote is counted equally. These convictions reflect the integrity of that process but do not represent a stolen election.”
