Students across the state are heading back to class and ReadyWisconsin is encouraging parents to make sure safety is part of their back to school planning. ReadyWisconsin’s Andrew Beckett says it’s important for parents and kids to know what they would do in the event of an emergency. Beckett says the first step is creating an emergency communications plan. If cell phones are allowed at school, program them with emergency contact numbers. Review safety information shared by your school. Talk to your student’s teacher about ReadyWisconsin’s Student Tools for Emergency Planning program…a free curriculum for 4th and 5th grade classrooms that teaches students about being ready for disasters.
