The Agnesian HealthCare Foundation recently hosted the 35th annual Charity Open, celebrating another successful year supporting local hospice patient care. The event raised $490,000 to support SSM Health at Home Hospice services within the greater Fond du Lac area. Proceeds from the event support SSM Health at Home Hospice services, within the greater Fond du Lac area, and help ensure that all patients have access to these vital services regardless of their ability to pay. As with previous years, the evening dinner featured the story of a local family benefiting from SSM Health at Home Hospice care. “This year, we were honored to share the story of David Cook,” says Shawn Fisher, Agnesian HealthCare Foundation executive director. “Dave was beloved by so many through the impact he made within the surrounding communities. We’re humbled by Dave’s family, who allowed us to share Dave’s legacy, to help us raise funds to support hospice care for all who need it facing end of life, regardless of their ability to pay.” SSM Health at Home Hospice, in the Fond du Lac and surrounding communities, averages 165 patients receiving care at any given time with 41 percent receiving financial assistance for the length of their care. The average cost of care at $300 per day.
