A social worker with SSM Health Palliative Care says while end of life decisions are never easy, they are essential . Deb Toth says the more you put into end of life planning before a stressful event, the easier it is later for you and your loved ones. Toth says there are a lot of important questions to think about. “We really recommend anyone 18 years or older complete a document,” Toth told WFDL news. “Right now with kids heading off to college it’s a perfect time for them to have their’s completed because at the age of 18 their parents are no longer responsible for making medical decisions for them.” Toth says an advance director describes in writing treatments you want or don’t want and tells others what to do with your care if you get injured and can’t express your wishes.
