The Fond du Lac County Public Health Officer says she doesn’t know how realistic potentially new alcohol guidelines would be. Currently, American guidelines recommend men limit themselves to two drinks per day while women should have only one drink. The recommendations are up for review in 2025, and there is some discussion that the U.S. may follow Canada’s footsteps in recommending no more than two drinks a week. Fond du Lac County Public Health Officer Kim Mueller says if that is indeed the recommendation, it would be just that…a recommendation. Mueller says the bottom line is there are no physical health benefits to drinking alcohol. But Mueller says as is the case with most everything…moderation is the key.
