9-27-23 congressman grothman leading effort to rename post office after fallen state patrol trooper

Wisconsin Republican Congressman Glenn Grothman  is leading the Wisconsin Congressional delegation on on a bipartisan bill to designate the U.S. Post Office in Kiel as the  “Trooper Trevor J. Casper Post Office Building”.

“Trooper Casper’s life was tragically cut short in 2015 as he became the youngest police officer to be killed in the line of duty in our state’s history,” said Grothman. “Renaming this post office in his honor serves as a lasting tribute to this young man who was unwavering in his commitment to keeping our streets safe.   “Trooper Casper’s sacrifice should remind us all of the tremendous debt of gratitude we owe to our law enforcement officers. Let us remember Trooper Casper’s heroism and his dedication to duty, and let us honor his memory by supporting those who continue to serve and protect our great state of Wisconsin.”

On March 24, 2015, Casper tragically became the youngest police officer killed in the line of duty in Wisconsin history when he was on his first solo assignment and was shot and killed in  Fond du Lac attempting to apprehend a bank robbery and murder suspect.   Months before his death, Casper fulfilled his dream by graduating from the State Patrol  Academy and being stationed at the State Patrol Office in Fond du Lac.  Casper was born in Kiel, graduated from Kiel High School, and attended Lakeshore Technical College where he graduated with a degree in Criminal Justice in 2014.  He was active in the Color Guard and held the position of President of the LTC student government.
