10-6-23 recording angel sculpture rededication ceremony

A centennial rededication ceremony is being held this weekend in Waupun to honor a famous landmark.  Waupun mayor Rohn Bishop says the Recording Angel sculpture is turning 100 years old, and a Centennial Rededication Ceremony will be held Saturday morning.   “It’s a beautiful sculpture located on top of a hill in the Forest Mound Cemetery,”  Bishop told WFDL news.  “Some call it The Angel of Death, because it’s angel in a cemetery.  But she has a book open on her lap and it’s recording the souls passing through the cemetery.”  Bishop says there are other activities planned for the weekend.  A homecoming parade will be held Friday afternoon followed by the Waupun High School homecoming football game.  The downtown business association is hosting their first Beer Walk Friday night.  The sculpture rededication ceremony will be held at 10am Saturday at the cemetery,  and at 6pm and 8pm Saturday,  the Waupun Community Players perform their play, ” A Poison Pen Letter to an Angel.”
